Groups press delay on IC train changes in Hyde Park
Community groups and the Hyde Park-Kenwood Conference asked the Illinois Commerce Commission to postpone hearings on Illinois Central rerouting plans to Hyde Park and South Side. The ICC filed condemnation suits for 14 Hyde Park properties as part of the redevelopment drive with only two parcels purchased so far.

Dr Irvin E Lunger will terminate his 17 year ministry at University Church of Disciples of Christ on August 21. Gasoline Spill At 57th And Stony Island Cleaned By Firefighters
Firefighters Stanley Tomczek and Al Mathews from Engine 60 wash gasoline from the 57th and Stony Island intersection after a Dunn Coal truck tank burst spilling 25 gallons when the drive chain broke last Thursday. Traffic halted for about 30 minutes. On Monday Engine 6 handled a prairie fire at 4821 Lake Park and a rubbish fire at 5123 Kimbark.

The Hyde Park Kenwood Lions plan a September 10 football outing to raise funds for service work. Tickets for the Chicago Cardinals Baltimore Colts game sell for 4 dollars each. Sign Remains as Outdoor Company Gets Second Extension
The General Outdoor Advertising firm received a second deadline extension to remove a large real estate sign at 4910 Chicago Beach Drive. The sign, violating zoning rules and ordered removed on June 15, now has until August 23 after July and August extensions.
