AME Church move spark in Hyde Park amid mixed views
Hyde Park leaders clash over relocating an AME Church to a housing site. Rev Percell and Theodore Swain defend openness and interracial history while Claude Shaw warns of financial risks and community strain. Merger talks with local churches floated. Rev Mendelsohn calls AME a solid asset. Julian Levi denied pressuring the church though tensions linger over race and integration.
