Closing Day Fairs Attract 7000 Attendees And Colorful Parades
On Friday the state fair concluded with about 7000 visitors, a strong turnout for a last day. Aberdeen and Watertown sent large contingents, with a 12 coach Aberdeen special train and multiple east and Pierre trains bringing crowds. The baseball game saw Watertown beat Huron 7 to 3, and races highlighted the afternoon with Miss Coppie winning the free for all trot, Strange Wave takes the special pace, and several pony and Indian racing events providing entertainment.

Old resident found dead near city after morphine overdose
C. T. Cooper a longtime county farmer died in his bed after an apparent morphine overdose following intoxication Tuesday night. Moulton found him early Wednesday morning and a coroner's jury determined death occurred at the coroner's office scene. Cooper had lived ten to twelve years in the county and owned property on the Whale Taylor farm.
