The Fiscal Corporation Bill was referred to the Senate on Monday and made a special order for Wednesday the 1st. The Revenue Bill was discussed. Mr Clay believed adjournment would not occur until both Revenue Bills are disposed of. Mr Johnson of Tennessee proposed adjournment on September 6, but Me Fillmore objected. Mr Everett sought leave to introduce a resolution that Congress would not adjourn until an act for safekeeping and custody of public money was enacted.

Confirmations by the Senate and bank transfers of deposits
The Senate spent four hours in secret session confirming, without opposition, nominations including General Wool and Ministerial posts for Todd and Jenniper. The Treasury moved public deposits from the Merchants Bank to the Bank of Commerce under a loan arrangement, while Indiana wheat notes and Everette’s ministerial fate stir debate. Counterfeit Lancaster bank notes circulate, and steamers on the lakes draw British action alongside Texas boundary work and Col Worth's expected promotion.
