Rates for the Huron Reflector include annual payment of two dollars and fifty cents if paid within the year, with dollar and seventy five cents per annum otherwise. Single papers cost five cents, or three for one hundred twenty five. Advertisements vary by insertions and square columns.
In July 1779 in S village Judge V a loyalist stronghold, Catharine V defends a front door against six men including Van Zant and Finley. She fires a pistol, van Zant is killed, others flee and later captured. October sees renewed danger as masked men enter the nearby barn while family works in the field.
The National Intelligencer critiques Secretary Walker's idea of reducing the tariff to a revenue standard. It argues the 1812 tariff already maintained ample revenue, notes potential effects on money markets and sugar trade, and analyzes major duties on sugar, iron, wool, cotton, and wine, warning against untimely cuts and praising the 1845 tariff's broad benefits.
The narrative recounts Catharine V hiding behind curtains, firing a loaded musket from a window as Finley and others enter a barn. Finley lies dead. the father and workers return inside. Catharine later marries a Continental captain and lives on, while the old house remains a source of local legends.
An eyewitness recounts a July ascent of the Natural Bridge in Virginia. Mr Shaver climbed the cliff with risk, reaching a bench 40 feet from the top and inscribing his name. The party observed the perilous feat from above, noting his daring balance and narrow ledges.
An experiment by Rev Jow Jafyray in Uenuak on a 1841 field shows two plots plowed twelve and eighteen inches deep. The deeper eighteen inch plot yielded 69 bolls per acre vs 57 on the twelve inch plot, with similar quality but larger, fewer small green tubers. The study supports deep plowing to increase produce and soil moisture retention. A second note reports Dayton census data: population 8,825 with growth since 1840.
