Second Annual Ohio State Fair draws mixed notes of praise
The Second Annual Fair in Columbus under the Ohio State Board of Agriculture faced weather and transport hurdles yet drew strong farm attendance and notable stock displays. Derham cattle, Morgans, and sheep led the show, with extensive exhibits in machinery, dairy, and horticulture despite fruit failures and logistical issues. The event’s overall impact was praised for inspiring agricultural improvement across Ohio, though secretary and committee misassignments were faulted. Toll of rail delays and rain marred some plans, but observers expected further state fair growth next year.
