Frances Slocum Story Revival of Lost Captive in Indiana
The piece recounts Frances Slocum, abducted by Delawares in 1777 near Hilkesbarre, later found alive near Peru on the Mississinewa river. Her brother Isaac Slocum, with Jamrus Minter, identified her by a scar on her left forefinger after decades among the Miami and Wyandot, and she remains reluctant to leave her Indian home though she is elderly and wealthy.
