Indian Massacres and Fort Siege On Ohio Frontiers 1791

In winter 1791 after General Harmar's return, Mohawk and other warriors attacked the Big Bottom settlement on the Moskingung killing most residents including a woman who wounded a Mohawk before being slain. They then besieged Dunlap's station on the Great Miami where Captain Kingsbury's garrison held out with help from volunteers. The Miami frontier saw further attacks on boats, with Hubbell's and Great House’s boats resisting multiple canoes of Indians. casualties ran high, and the heroism of women and men, including gunfire exchanges and bodily wounds, marked a brutal episode in the Ohio frontier conflicts. Attempts at peace by Governor St Clair and Seneca, Delawares failed.
