Expedition to capture Alvarado off Vera Cruz ends in court martial
Lieut Hustex-Com Perry led an expedition of 12 ships and 3000 men to take Alvarado. Lieut Homer with the Scourge blocked the town but exceeded orders and captured it before Perry's arrival. The Commodore found Alvarado already in Hunter's hands and ordered Hunter to be reprimanded and dismissed from the squadron for disobedience. Such a bubble is glory.
