Akron school law extended to all towns in state
The Huron Reflector reports that the Akron common schools act of February 8, 1847, has been extended to all incorporated towns in the state upon two thirds voter petition. The plan calls for a board of six directors, central grammar and six or more primary schools, free admission for local residents, capped annual taxes at four mills, examiner appointments, and annual public examinations.

The Three Per Cent Fund and Other Notices
In 1805 Ohio’s compact exempted lands from tax for five years, with 3 percent of net land sale proceeds to fund roads. A government dispute on computation led to a successful claim of $63,749 due to 1340, with $13,149 to an agent and $52,600 to the state. Also petitions in Massachusetts for lower postal rates and notes on bank and political matters in Detroit, along with a long moralizing essay on reverence for age and other miscellaneous items.
