Constancy in Love at Allerton in a 19th Century Tale
A sentimental sketch follows Edward Rainsford and Emily Worthington as their early romance is tested by guardians, delays, and rival suitors. Edward funds Emily’s care after bankruptcy, they pledge devotion, misunderstandings arise from Emily’s social circle, and Edward’s schemes collide with Laura and Julia Alford. Emily’s encounter with Lord Elmsley and a misdelivered letter spark trials, but reconciliation and a joyous bridal return seal a tale of steadfast affection.
