Church Burned in Lyme and Town Relief Efforts

The new Episcopal church in Lyme township was destroyed by fire on February 28 between 10 and 12. The vestry room started the blaze, wind drove flames toward the church, but some interior and windows were saved. Loss estimates place it at 1500 to 1800 dollars. Lyme residents plan a new church on the same site. Nearby Sherman suffered a chair shop fire at Douglass Squire's, with about 3000 dollars in losses, half insured.
