Advertisement Terms and Rates for Local Paper

Terms note two dollars per annum or half yearly with amounts due after the year. No paper stops while arrears exist unless editors choose. Ads three times for one dollar per square and twenty five cents for each additional insertion. Liberal yearly discounts offered. Most country produce accepted as payment.

Speech of Mr Wise on secret three million appropriation

In this January 1836 speech Mr Wise denounces secret Executive influence over a $3,000,000 fortifications and navy appropriation. He accuses Chairman Cambreleng and Mr Polk of withholding the President’s wishes, warns against secret despotism, and argues for open, accountable military funding and proper constitutional checks. He contrasts defense needs with perceived political manipulation.
