A Philadelphia Tale of Orange and Love in October
Albert Morris, a young Philadelphian of wealth and charm, falls in love with Clara Atwood during a Chestnut Street encounter. A chance act by a Quakeress helps Morris reevaluate his ideals. Annie Morris, his cousin and wife to be, assists in mending family ties while Clara faces social fall from grace after a basket of oranges spills in public. The story follows social reconciliations, courtship, and the moral growth prompted by a single civic moment.
