Bethlehem and Jerusalem Journey Through Holy Land Scenes
The narrator describes travel from Bethlehem to Jerusalem, visiting a Christian convent in Bethlehem and St Elias Greek monastery, noting ruins from Ibrahim Pacha, the Arab and Christian guardians, and the contrast between holy sites and Turkish rule. He recounts views of Bethlehem, the grotto, and the ascent to Jerusalem including the Pools of Jezekiah, Mount of Olives, and the Gate. The account details impressions of Jerusalem’s stillness, Turkish authorities, and a meeting with American missionary Mr Whiting, ending with a night's stay in the convent.
