State Bank of Ohio bill dominates Ohio Legislature notes
The Franklin legislator Mr. Kelley introduced a bill to incorporate the State Bank of Ohio and other banking companies. The lengthy proposal, with seventy three sections, faced opposition from Whigs who favor free banking. Senate updates cover county formations, school funding changes, license law petitions, and various road and registry measures with debates over fraud and taxation.

Conviction of Bishop Onderdonk reported after trial
The Church Court suspended Right Rev Benjamin Onderdonk of New York after finding him guilty on charges of immoral conduct. The six bishops present plus three presenters formed a 1470 member body, voting to suspend him rather than depose. The official record notes suspension from all episcopal and ministerial functions with notice to all dioceses.
