Proceedings note the May Term of the Huron Common Pleas listing Benjamin Stervens Jan Jacos H Cortes and Ezra Denison among the named parties or participants in the case docket.
May term georce W. Casr versus Isaac Mills and others in chancery. Court docket shows August 9 1836 entry. Named parties include George Heapiey Nathan Starr Mary W Starr. Ohio jurisdiction State of Ohio Huron county.
From the Richland Whig and Cincinnati Whig pieces, Harrison is defended against aristocrat charges. The text argues he is a democratic farmer who aided land reform, with Croghan’s 1813 letter praising Harrison’s decisions and leadership under pressure.
Evansville Journal notes the Louisville Advertiser and Van Buren Postmaster at Princeton asserted only one Gibson county veteran would back Harrison at Tippecanoe. Old soldiers reply with a certificate denouncing the claim as false and politically motivated to elevate Van Buren.
A Gibson county petition signed by 26 veterans and citizens asserts support for Gen. Harrison for the Presidency. They recount service in 1811 and Tippecanoe ties, defend him against attacks by Van Buren supporters, and urge rural voters to trust his character and fitness.
A vandal asks whose funeral is seen in a long procession toward the Storer barbecue. A Harrison man replies it is the funeral of Van Burenism in Hamilton County, echoing the line.
