Commencement last Friday at the Opera House drew a crowded audience with sea foam and pink decor. President Geo E MacLean of the State University of Iowa gave the address on Van Maclaren’s Message to Iowa, praising education and Town's school system.

The program arranges 1 00 p m G A R and Spanish American soldiers gathering at the G A R hall then marching to the Opera House 1 30 p m glee club songs invocation by Rev Putnam and speeches by Hon H M Towner followed by Lincoln s Gettysburg Address by Miss Kelso and benediction by Rev Rice then a procession to the cemetery to decorate graves of soldiers

Memorial Services Held at Methodist Church
Union memorial services were held at the Methodist church last Sunday with a large congregation in attendance. Rev. Brown delivered an apt sermon for the occasion and Rev. Putham of the Congregational church assisted. Special music by the choir enhanced the impressive services.

Death of Charles Opp in Washington township
Charles Opp, about sixty, a respected Washington township resident, died by self-inflicted gunshot Thursday morning at his son Ed Opp’s farm near Cambria. He had mourned his wife’s recent death for years and lived with his son. coroner deemed it a clear suicide, with no doctor summoned to view the body.
