First Game at Allerton Chamauqua Ends with Humeston Win

In a crowded Allerton Chamauqua opener on August 16, Humeston defeated Seymour 7 to 4. Humeston pitchers faced control issues but the Reds’ lineup produced 13 hits and seven runs. Stroud struggled early but settled, while Humeston fielded well with three errors to Seymour’s one.

Humeston Evans Cleans Wounded Heel After Lamp Glass Incident

A fragment of glass from a broken lamp chimney injured Humeston Seymour Evans in the right heel. Dr. Arnold removed the glass on Sunday. Hamilleston Corner Stone Laying For New School

Last Thursday Hamleston celebrated the laying of the corner stone for the new school building with Masonic and Eastern Star ceremonies. Grand Master R. M. Hunter and Hon. M. L. Tempie spoke on education while a large crowd heard the address and choir music. Architects O. A. Hougland and Enslow and Johnson guide a fine modern brick structure praised by residents.

Jolly Party at Kyner Home in Fairview

Fred Kyner hosted a pleasant gathering at his parents home in Fairview with about fifty youths. Games featured top lists on trees and music by James Porter and Carl McGuire. Refreshments were served around 10:30. Corydon Times notes Miss Reddick reports 100 Wayne county teachers took exams, only seven failed, a strong showing among counties.
