Norwegians Mark Leif Erikson Day Festivities Planned

The Norwegian National League of Chicago sponsors Leif Erikson Day events October 8 and 9 with a Chicago Norske Klub program at 8 p.m. featuring the Sons of Norway, a color film on Surtsey, dances, and Norwegian greetings from officials. A wreath ceremony in Humboldt Park Sunday includes remarks by W R Anson and a memorial wreath lay. The league represents Chicago area Norwegian cultural groups.

Plan Busy Winter At Simons Park

An expanded fall and winter recreation program for all ages is launching this week at Almira Simons Park, 1640 N. Drake. Activities include a play school for very young children and drama classes. Park supervisor Earl L Essig says drama meets Mondays and Fridays from 3:30 to 10.
