He visits relatives, discusses local schooling, floods in Florence, and sees halted projects amid limited funds. He recalls postwar emigration and meets local officials during his tour.

Coe Named New Vice President At Pioneer Bank

Pioneer trust and Savings bank announces Ernest E. Coe as vice president and operations officer. Don Kreider says Coe will oversee operations systems and procedures and first study current methods to maximize efficiency and service. Coe previously led Lake Villa Trust and Savings Bank and began banking in 1946 in a Loop institution.

Burglary Solved By Quick Arrest

Mrs. Judith A. Patterson reported a burglary at her first floor apartment on 1629 N Springfield. Patrolman D Crawford arrested Clayton Love 26 of Burnsville Ind as he walked near the scene with the TV and portable transistor radio still, pieces of the forced back door and broken glass noted.

Charles Rieck Dies at 86 Paint Merchant Pioneer

Funeral services were held Saturday for Charles E. Rieck 86 owner of the C Rieck Paint Co and 3950 Grand who died Wednesday at St Anne's hospital He came from a long paint business family with his father an immigrant and his brother EB C Rieck a South Side paint company operator He is survived by two sons Ernest and William two daughters Marie and Mrs Ann James and 11 grandchildren.

Armitage Street Closed for Root Coffeehouse Fair

Armitage between Kedzie and Kimball will close from 1 to 9 p m Sunday to host the Root coffeehouse at 3260 Armitage a street Human Arts Fair with sidewalk and street displays and entertainment. A permit for the closure has been issued as the coffeehouse operates 1 p m to 12 30 a m with events nightly and a new drama group forming with board membership open to anyone.
