County weighs landfill sites and hauling costs
The Humboldt County commission debated funding and routes for a proposed new landfill. Estimates show 109000 annually to haul to Fort Dodge and 127000 if a compaction station is built, with 120000 for 12 years to develop a Humboldt site. Opposition in the Clabaugh land area stalled site development, but officials urged continued zoning and project steps. Stakeholders from Humboldt Rutland Thor Livermore Bradgate Pioneer and other towns backed temporary Fort Dodge hauling. Dakota City and Bade opposed permanent Webster County arrangements and zoning concerns.
