Dale R. Hayes longtime Humboldt area contractor dies at 46
Dale R. Hayes 46 of Hampton died April 30 at Franklin County General Hospital in Hampton of an apparent heart attack. A Humboldt native born October 30, 1936, he moved from Humboldt to Mason City then Hampton. He was president of Metal Contractors of Mason City and a longtime member of several trade groups. Hayes served as a captain in the Air Force during the Korean War and was an avid golfer who won the Humboldt Amateur Golf Tournament in 1966. He leaves wife Mary Jo, five sons Rick, Dan, Randy, Mark and James, a sister Lola, two brothers Larry and Melvin, and four grandchildren. Burial was at Rose Hill Memorial Garden Cemetery in Marshalltown after funeral services at the United Methodist Church in Marshalltown.

Funeral services for Thelma M Rolland 81 formerly of Bode were held at St Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode with burial at the church cemetery. Survivors include son Keith Rolland and daughter Elaine Mattica five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Rolland farmed near Bode and later lived in town.

Hospice of Humboldt County elected a 15 member board at a Monday meeting in the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Sun Room. Officers named were Chuck Hinkle as president and Elaine Mason as president elect among others. The group aims to develop a volunteer pool for hospice care by fall and all board meetings are open to the public.
