Harold Wright dies after long illness at 55 in Des Moines

Harold Wright 55 of Pocahontas and former Humboldt resident died Friday at Veterans Hospital Des Moines after a lengthy illness. Survived by his mother Mrs. Margaret Wright Humboldt and a son Kevin Wright Cedar Rapids. Funeral Monday Aug 8 at 2 pm Lindhart Funeral Home Humboldt with Dr Ralph Kitterman officiating. Interment Marble Valley Cemetery Gilmore City. He was born Wayne Michigan, moved to Humboldt area as a child, graduated Humboldt High 1945, served in the Army, worked as a butcher and later at Flynn's Market Pocahontas. Member of Masonic Lodge and Shrine.

Keith Marsh 75 of Vista California formerly of Humboldt died July 26 in Vista and was buried Aug 9 at Union Cemetery in Humboldt. He grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School and Town State College. He worked for TWA in California for years and retired ten years ago. He is survived by his wife Evelyn and sister Miss Mabel Marsh of Bloomington Minnesota.

Mrs Josephine Phillips Funeral Rites Held in Columbus Junction

Funeral services for 86 year old former Humboldt resident Mrs Josephine Phillips were held Monday at Stacey-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction with burial there. Survivors include sons Don Phillips Richard Phillips and Jerry Phillips a daughter Judy Bisel 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was born near Humboldt and attended area country schools and married Ray Ira Phillips in 1920 in Humboldt County. Her husband died in 1968.

Cecil P. Simmons Funeral Service Held in Rochester

Cecil P. Simmons 87 of Rochester Minnesota died July 29 after a heart attack at Woodside Convalescent Center where he had lived since May. Funeral Aug 1 at Zumbro Lutheran Church Rochester followed a life of farming Humboldt Union veteran service and a Walnut Grove American Legion post commander. He was survived by daughter Vat Lynaugh and a sister and brother extended by a niece Hazel Harlan Humboldt. Born September 26 1895 in Bode he married Pearl Cunningham in 1920 and later moved to Rochester after farming in Walnut Grove area.

Stalzer 69 Dies After Illness in Fort Dodge

Linus J. Stalzer 69 of Livermore died Friday August 5 at Trinity Regional Hospital Fort Dodge after a lengthy illness. Survivors include wife Lois daughters Esther Elmore Mary Elien Wilson Donna Kaudill Margaret Wood Dorothy Miller son Orville Stalzer and 16 grandchildren with brothers Cletus Elmer LeRoy Ralph and sister Bernice Elbert. Burial followed services at Corpus Christi Cemetery after a mass at Corpus Christi Church led by Monsignor A J Elbert.

Hospital births and IPS demand rate discount program update

Dakota City families welcomed newborns at Trinity Regional and Humboldt County Memorial Hospitals with weights and parent names. The IPS reported a successful three year pilot discount on new or expanding commercial and industrial electric demand with 28 qualifying customers, including 10 new ones, totaling about 5.1 megawatts of added load and potential job growth.
