Thelma Koppe obituary and funeral details

Thelma Koppe 77 Humboldt died Monday at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Congregational United Church of Christ with burial in East Beaver Cemetery. Survived by son Keith Koppe Muscatine and many relatives including Ivan Hirsch Rutland and Verle Bergum Cedar Rapids. 11 grandchildren 5 step grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Thelma Snitkey born May 18 1906 Humboldt to Mary Neilson Snitkey married Edwin Koppe February 28 1925. She farmed in Beaver Township moved to Humboldt 1944 and later to Humboldt Care Center South. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge Royal Neighbors Lodge and Congregational Women’s Fellowship.

Lived in Corwith since 1973. active in church and circle.

Time capsule buried at Bode Uffda Daze event

The Uffda Daze celebration in Bode featured a noon community dinner hosted by St. Olaf ALCW chaired by Mary Lou Jensen. Pastor Harold Naig gave the invocation and Mayor Howard Curry introduced Herbert Kinseth for the main address. Janice Pflibsen read the capsule items, a song adapted to Dear Hearts and Gentle People closed the program, and a tea and style show followed. Janet Larson won the afghan and Stephanie Britton was crowned Little Miss Bode.

Warnock Named Regional Judge for NCTE Writing Awards

Toni Warnock of Gilmore City is appointed regional judge for the 1983 National Council of Teachers of English Achievements Awards in Writing Program. The competition cites about 800 high school seniors for excellence and potential financial aid. last year 7,000 students were nominated. The council promotes effective teaching of English language and literature nationwide.

Pastor Wayne Knolhoff and his wife Joyce bring two children Jeremy and Jennifer to Humboldt as they settle into Zion Lutheran Church. Wayne, a graduate of Carlyle High School and Concordia institutions, began seminary studies in 1979. The family plans new puppies in three weeks and enjoys reading, yard work, sports, and swimming while Joyce teaches and homemakes.
