Digger Phelps delivered the main address as Hubbard High marked its first Hall of Fame ceremony at the House of Valley. About 300 attended as 16 inductees from Hubbard’s sports past were honored, including Alex Antonio Jr and notable contributors from golf, baseball, football, and track.

Brookfield-Hubbard reach dispatching accord for new police
Hubbard Township and Brookfield Township plan a temporary dispatching arrangement for the new Hubbard police department. Brookfield will provide dispatchers and LEADS computer support at half the LEADS cost, plus two Youngstown lines to offset long distance charges. The setup lasts about one year as Hubbard forms its own force.

Frank and Margaret Obermiyer of Brookfield own five airplanes and run Brookfield Aviation on a 16 acre airstrip behind their 22 acre farm. Flying lessons and rides are offered in a 1940 Waco AP7 bi plane on weekends. The family has a long history of flying though weather and tragedy have tempered activity.

Citizens group forms to press city on utility billing
A new civic group Concerned Citizens for Responsible City Government formed with over 50 members to seek answers on the city electricity billing methods. Dolores Monahan, president, says residents are frustrated by vague council responses and unclear charges, especially around the purchasing power and rate increases.
