Hubbard parking restrictions tightened on main highways
Police Chief Ernest DeMatteo announced strict enforcement of Ohio Motor Vehicle laws and city ordinances. Prohibitions cover crosswalks, stop signs, safety zones, railroad crossings, driveways, hydrants, and spaces between vehicles. Violations are a misdemeanor with fines. He urged merchants to verify solicitor permits and to report unpermitted solicitations to the police. Permits are issued at the mayor's office.

Township seeks 3 mill police levy to boost protection
Hubbard residents urged to vote for a 3 mill annual police levy to fund seven patrolmen and 24 hour protection. Funding would cover about $103 000 with $99 000 from the levy and the rest from federal grants. The measure follows a county prosecutor recommendation and a grant last May from the Law Enforcement Assistant Administration.

Ken Perry Joins Hubbard Police Force as Patrolman
Kenneth Perry 22 native of the city begins duties as Hubbard Police Department newest patrolman. He has one year patrol experience in Poland and was chosen as a beginning patrolman by Mayor Arthur Magee after ranking in the top three on the civil service test. Salary listed at 700 dollars monthly. Perry, son of Mr and Mrs Anthony Perry of 271 Grandview, holds a BS in law enforcement from Youngstown State University and will attend Ohio Peace Officers Training School. He is married to Elizabeth Ann Smith of Struthers. Hubbard Police has 11 patrolmen and four part time officers.

Groundhog gets the final say in Hubbard incident
Dennis W Hubbard and Joel Poto faced a groundhog dispute on August 22 near Hubbard. Johnson fired a .22 pistol at the animal but wounded his own leg, not the groundhog, and was treated at North Side Hospital in fair condition. The groundhog fled.
