For the third year, Girl Scouts from Brownies to Seniors will canvass Hubbard city and township to gather canned goods and non-perishables. On Saturday December 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. Scouts will go door to door aided by leaders and parents, identified by pins. Collection co chairmen are Mrs. Ernest DeMatteo and Mrs. Richard Sauline.

Hubbard Mayor's Court to Stay Despite Supreme Court Ruling
Hubbard Mayor Joseph Baldine says the Nov. 14 Supreme Court decision ending many mayor's courts will not affect Hubbard. He notes Hubbard's 150 year old court handles about $40,000 in fines annually on a $217,000 budget and expects possible statewide fines limits and uniform penalties to be enacted by the legislature. Baldine argues the ruling misses enforcement issues and transportation costs, maintaining Hubbard is not a speed trap and that other mayor's courts should be eliminated only if they violate procedures.

While backlog delays action, lines are being laid from Sharon to Brookfield to Hubbard Township with service applications expected once licensed. The city receives a 500 dollar initial payment on a 20 year contract with a 10 year option. Monthly service is 4.95 dollars with 5.95 dollar per outlet.
