Eagles and Warriors clash over Pigskin trophy plans

Hubbard and Brookfield high schools renew their rivalry with a planned annual Battle of the Pigskin. The trophy donated by Hubbard Little Eagles will pass to the winner, banners in each school color to be hung, and the program aims to foster sportsmanship and friendly competition between Hubbard and Brookfield students.

Voters to select county state and federal officials

Hubbard residents and Trumbull County voters head to the polls on Tuesday November 3 to pick a president and vice president and multiple state regional and county offices. The ballot features Bush and Quayle for reelection against Clinton Gore Perot Stockdale and several independent tickets. Senator John Glenn seeks reelection against DeWine with Grevatt on the ballot. Rep Traficant Jr faces challenger Salvatore Pansino in Ohio's 17th District.

Toll free hearing rescheduled in Ohio and 32nd District race

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio rescheduled a public hearing for October 29 in Columbus on extending toll free service for Hubbard and nearby exchanges into Brookfield Warren Niles Sharon West Middlesex. Shayen George led a petition with over 3,000 signatures. The hearing may approve the toll free area or require another session. A Pennsylvania hearing may need federal court action. In the 32nd District race incumbent Republican Chip Henry seeks a second term against Democrat Anthony Latell. New county commissioners are poised to take office in 1993, with Joseph Angelo and Cheryl Tennant running for one seat and Michael OBrien and Beverly Friend for the other. The winner replaces Christopher Lardis, defeated by OBrien in the June primary. Also contested are engineer and clerk of courts races. Democrat June Lucas is unopposed.

Clinton Gore Lead In Hubbard High School Vote

Hubbard High School students in history and government classes participated in the Channel One One Vote election along with about 50,000 peers in four counties. Of 345 eligible juniors and seniors, 314 cast ballots with Clinton Gore winning 152 votes (48 percent), Perot Stockdale 94 (30 percent), Bush Quayle 46 (15 percent), and others 22 (7 percent).

Hubbard girls soccer forfeits shocks season finish

Hubbard High School forfeited eight games due to an eligibility error involving a ninth grader, costing the team six supposed victories and altering a 10 win potential.
