Hubbard Township trustees last Tuesday reduced the Wick Campbell Road speed from 45 to 35 mph citing dangerous curves. Clerk Helen Dubyak notes residents asked for the change. county engineer appraisal supported it. Trustees will seek Trumbull County Auditor Patrick Sullivan’s details on property reappraisal methods.
Three area residents Hubbard Mayor Arthur Magee Thomas R West Jr and Patrick J Donlin Hubbard Township joined Gary Tisor Willoughby and Robert Penny Painesville as Democratic hopefuls to challenge Republican incumbent J William Stanton of Painesville. Eight candidates seek Trumbull County commissioner post to oppose Anthony Bernard who has no opposition.
Hubbard City Council approved a 65,600 bond issue to the Magnus Company of Cincinnati at 5 4s percent for curb and street work on West Park Avenue. The project funds will be levied on local property owners. Mayor Magee announced a clean up, gravel loading at city hall, and reversal of the outdoor lighting cutback. The meeting also discussed Senate Bill 201 on measured service, a possible ice skating pond on Erie Street, and Hubbard’s litigation with Ohio Edison over power charges. Council cautioned motorists to watch for children and bicycles as spring weather arrives.

Arthur G. Mazarakis is promoted to supervisor of engineering for U S Steel Youngstown Works by William H. Kirwan. He succeeds retiree Jack J. Jones. Mazarakis, born in Hubbard, holds a mechanical engineering degree from Fenn College.
