Gas Price Reduction Continued in Hubbard Area
Gas dealers in Hubbard and nearby towns kept cutting prices this week. John Glod of Glod's Uptown Gulf Service, a director of Independent Gasoline Dealers, Inc., dropped regular to 23.9 cents to meet competition from three operators near the Pennsylvania line. He had moved from 29.9 to 24.9 on March 15 and lowered to 23.9 last Friday. Glod said the industry is meeting competition with competition as older dealers lose gallonage to unbranded rivals, with losses shared by dealers and major oil companies. Prices vary one to three cents and price conferences are prohibited by law. Niles also trimmed about three cents over a two-day period.
