Hubbard High School's Quick Trick demonstration on Salisbury Steak earned top honors at the Seventh Annual Ohio Food Service Assn. meeting in Columbus on March 18. The Hubbard team, aided by Mrs. Angie Weidman, distributed 100 recipe booklets and joined eight other schools in a program featuring talks on feeding children and student buzz sessions.

Home made x-ray machine wins local science fair prize
High School sophomore Bill Shenk designed and built an x-ray device at low cost winning first at the local Science Fair and a top award at the Fitch Tri County event. His display included animal x rays showing how the machine works, praised as a credit to the school system. Columbus, Ohio hosted the State Basketball Tournament finals at Ohio State University St John Arena with Hubbard noted among delegates.

Bill Shenk Wins Top Awards At Science Fair
Hubbard High School students excel at the fifth annual tri county Science Fair held at Fitch High School on March 18. Bill Shenk, a tenth grader, won the $50 engineer's award from the Mahoning Valley Society of Professional Engineers and first place in physics earning a $25 bond. Charles Luce took fourth in general science with a $10 prize. Dennis Champion and Karen Altenderfer earned superior ratings in their categories. Shenk’s radiology project, "Radiology by the Soft X-Ray," previously won Hubbard High’s January top award. Special awards included one $50 prize and two others not specified.

The Mahoning Chapter Red Cross drive reports $427 raised against a $2,000 Hubbard quota. Last week's luncheon noted 64 percent of the chapter goal $150,727 of $236,487 had been collected. Steve Kutsko led the drive with Hubbard Business and Civic Association support. captains were Russell Harder, William Prout, John Petro, Peter Mageros, Harry Hamilton and Atty. Richard Scullin.
