Tavolario Leads Juniors Bowling Standings at Bell Wick

Rotary club program features quartet from local families

In New York City on March 26 a Rotary Club luncheon heard a singing group. Mrs. Gamache was pianist and the quartet included Mrs. Ruth Colbitt, Poland. Mrs. Marilyn Graham, Youngstown. Mrs. Ronnie Scherl. all four mothers with a combined 17 children.

Hubbard High spaghetti dinner boosts sponsor funds

Hubbard High School hosted 596 attendees for a spaghetti dinner that boosted the Hubbard Band Sponsors toward their $8,000 goal. A Kiwanis Club donation of $250 plus an estimated $500 dinner profit raised the total to about $5,200. President William Hulbert thanked patrons and apologized for long lines.

Trustees Move To Cite Illegally Parked Cars

Hubbard Township Trustees ordered constables with the county sheriff to cite motor vehicles obstructing the road right of way. The measure, aimed at easing snow removal and road work disruption, is to be enforced immediately after repeated warnings.

Wheeler Named President of Eastern Ohio Auto Dealers Association

Aura Wheeler of Hubbard has been named president of the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio, covering Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Wheeler, longtime head of Valley Pontiac since 1961, will serve a one year term, succeeding John Baghier, with Jack Lemke elected vice president and Glen Lanzenbacher treasurer.

City Ash Sues Hubbard Over Garbage Contact Involving Exclusivity

City Ash Inc filed in Trumbull County Court a declaratory judgment against the City of Hubbard and Albert J Begeot regarding a garbage haulage contract. The suit seeks an injunction to bar other firms and other relief. The dispute traces to December 1964 when the contract was signed and centers on whether it is exclusive. City officials were advised the contract may not be exclusive.

Hubbard Brothers Recall 78 Years of Fire Service

Hubbard residents Arlie and Glenn Roose, brothers, total 78 years in firefighting with Hubbard Volunteer Firemen. Glenn served 43 years since 1921. Arlie 35 years. They recall old equipment, modern training, and three memorable fires at the old post office, Powell Pressed Steel, and a bakery where Sinclair station now stands. Glenn retired from Powell Pressed Steel. Arlie works there as an inspector.

Colletta Elected Hubbard Homecoming President 1965

William Colletta was elected president of the Hubbard Homecoming Association for 1965. Other officers include Elma Beer vice president Nadine Marshall recording secretary Richard Stiver treasurer Joseph Baldine publicity secretary and James Hagan on the executive board with incumbents Homer Beer William Powell Jr. and Paul Rowlands. Homecoming 1965 is tentatively set for July 28 to 31 at Hubbard High School Stadium with Mayor Frank D. Washington swearing in at the meeting. Next meeting is 8 30 p m April 7 in the city council chambers.

Yobe Elected President Of Local 1256 Union

Michael Yobe of Hubbard was re elected last week as president of the Hubbard Girard Municipal Employees Local 1256. New officers include Joseph Carson vice president Frank Palmier treasurer Dorothy Margill secretary. Executive board members are Phil Mairiano Alex Choban and Ralph Per line. Mark Matekovich and Sam Vivolo hold sergeant at arms and trustee posts. Yobe also became a trustee for a two year term in Council 18 of the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees, which includes locals from Youngstown Warren Hubbard Girard East Liverpool and Ashtabula.

Tavern Robbery Hits Hubbard Township Site

Thieves burglarized Conrad's Tavern on Hubbard-Youngstown Road for the second time in about a month. They pried open a juke box cigarette machine and pool table, taking about 115 dollars in change from coin-operated machines. Deputies say the break-in occurred between 3 a.m. last Wednesday March 10.

Hallmark Building Co Wins Hubbard Post Office Contract

Hallmark Building Co of Birmingham won a 215000 dollar contract to extend and remodel Hubbard Post Office. The low bid was selected from five proposals, with completion targeted in about 270 days, potentially late 1965. Hubbard population has grown from 4338 in 1939 to near 15000.

Hubbard Club Expands Agents Selling 1965 Licenses

The Hubbard Conservation Club adds two agents to handle sales of 1965 hunting and fishing licenses for Hubbard area residents. Western Auto and American Hardware join existing sellers including Hubbard Bait Shop North Main Street Hubbard Corroto's Bait Shop Roseview Drive Pucak's Market Chestnut Ridge Road and Gaylord Adams and Son Hubbard Brookfield Road. Club proceeds fund wildlife propagation a children fishing derby and a rabbit trapping program.

Young Hubbard carriers serve local customers

Ed Yohman 13, son of Mr and Mrs George Yohman of 62 Silver Ave, has 13 News Reporter customers along his route since last December. He is a seventh grader at Hubbard Junior High and played end on the Midget football team. Curtis Juillerat 13, son of Mr and Mrs Wilbur Juillerat of 378 Thornton Ave, delivers 31 papers to Hubbard Township south, began last November, and attends Hubbard Junior High, where he enjoys coin collecting and models.
