Jones Elevates to Hubbard Schools Administrative Post

Hubbard High School principal Jones Sr. was named administrative assistant for Hubbard schools, filling a vacancy and prompting a search for a new high school principal. The hire, effective July 1, is a 12 month, about 13700 dollar salary with two thirds from the state foundation program.

Farewell picnic for AFS student Andy Fisher

A farewell picnic for AFS exchange student Andy Fisher is set for Tuesday June 35 from 4 to 9 PM at Harding Park main pavilion. Hubbard High AFS Club and AFS Chapter sponsor with Bill Hackett as chair and Beverly Kindler as co chair. Visitors may bring recreational gear and enjoy a group sing. Andy, living with the Cooksey family, departs June 29 for a month in the eastern United States then travels to Paris Entebbe and Johannesburg before registering at the University of Natal on August 1 to begin law studies. Area AFS students will meet in Liberty to start their US Tour, the first in this region.

Jurisdiction Question for Judge Jones Split Districts

Judge George M. Jones seeks an opinion on whether he can hear cases from the old 7th District after Ohio split it into two districts effective February 5 1968. The 1th District now comprises five counties and borders Trumbull Mahoning. Jones is the sole sitting judge in the new district. Attorneys across Ashtabula Geauga Portage Trumbull and Lake Counties confront which Appellate Court has jurisdiction over appeals from the Court of Common Pleas.

Common Market ministers of agriculture approved Basic regulations for a common dairy beef and veal policy which will take effect July 1. The decision was taken in Luxembourg on Tuesday, setting the framework for unified standards and trade rules across member states.

Flag Day ceremony at War Memorial honors Scouts

A Flag Day event near the City Building drew Boy and Girl Scouts, Explorers and Brownies with Scout Master Richard Grim of Troop 104 presiding. Rev. Harry Hull and Mayor Joseph J. Baldine spoke, as Old Glory was raised by Candy Robbins and Jim Ruble, with a guard of Hubbard Scouts and Brownie Linda Nord. An evening flag lowering followed at 7 p.m.

Eagles Nest plans for Hubbard football room

New Hubbard High football chief David Beckman unveils a four section room called The Eagles Nest to be funded by a Buy a Block for a Buck drive. The 67 by 19 foot addition will attach to the bus garage and include a 56 boy locker room shower and film room. A public meeting is set for June 20 to explain how fans can help with labor and donations.

Kent State freshman earns perfect spring quarter GPA

David LeMoine son of Mr and Mrs Sylvian LeMoine living at 351 Parish Avenue is a freshman at Kent State University and earned a perfect four point average for the spring quarter He has made the dean's list for his first three quarters and plans a career in guidance counseling He is a Hubbard High School 1967 graduate and in the College of Liberal Arts with three older sisters noted for high academic achievement.

City Session Warns on Dogs and Tall Grass

Hubbard officials issued warnings on loose dogs and overgrown lawns after no new ordinances were passed. The mayor ordered dog licensing and inoculation, with the county dog warden visiting regularly, and warned fines for street littering and improper lots.

Hubbard Township Grants 12 Cent Pay Increase

At a Monday trustees meeting Hubbard Township approved a 12 cent per hour raise for two truck drivers and one heavy equipment operator effective July 1. Hospital benefits were previously given in January. A police car levy was discussed but no action taken. Gennaro Pavers was awarded a $2,500 contract to pave part of Liberty Avenue with residents paying half. Kenneth H. Inskeep was authorized for summer work.

DelBane to Attend Campaign Seminar

Michael DelBane a Hubbard Democrat campaigning for the Ohio House is invited to a Columbus seminar June 21 22. Sponsored by Senate and House leadership with Democratic state headquarters the event aims to brief candidates on state needs and upcoming General Assembly issues. All Democratic nominees receive invitations and four campaign technique workshops are planned.

Concessions for the Hub bard Homecoming celebration will be awarded at 1 p.m. Saturday in council chambers. Prices listed include churches 45 dollars service organizations 50 dollars local individuals 60 dollars and all others 68 dollars.
