Hubbard High School honors Class of 1992 grads with many scholarships

Thirty Hubbard High School seniors received a wide array of scholarships and awards at the May 31 commencement in the high school gym. The Reed Middle School honor and merit rolls for the fourth nine weeks are announced. Hubbard boards seeks apology over state consolidation remarks

Hubbard Board of Education members praised the levy committee for gains in passing a five year levy on June 2 and on June 3 discussed stopping “the farce that the state can make us consolidate.” Robert DeJulio urged an apology from the Ohio Department of Education after remarks by Charles Brown about potential district consolidation and racial fears. He has contacted officials and awaits a reply.

Resident opposes merger plan with city in Hubbard Twp

Hubbard Township residents debate a possible merger with the city discussed at a May joint meeting. Steve Bartolin argues it benefits only a few business interests while taxes may rise if merged. Trustees note need for voter approval and tax base concerns, with a June 23 joint meeting set to continue talks.

Call ahead urged for township roadside ditching

Hubbard Township residents on township or county roads are asked to call ahead before ditching. Trustee Fred Hanley recommends calling in winter for spring work and in spring for fall ditching. Road Superintendent Charles Sell says the county has a full schedule and will not plan more ditching until October.
