Area manufacturers express cautious optimism for 1977 with expectations of steady gains or stability. The Hubbard School Board adopted a temporary 2 million dollar General Fund appropriation for 1977 to operate until the budget is submitted to the Trumbull County Budget Commission by April 1. Also approved were an amended 1976 Official Certificate, a group term life plan for 286 employees, and new/substitute staffing actions.
Ohio BMV will start issuing new photo identification cards for residents 65 and older and handicapped adults 18 to 64 without valid licenses. Applicants provide proof of age or qualifying condition, have a photo taken, and receive a four year ID for a $2.50 fee plus 50 cent service charge.
Hubbard A PTA Career Night set for the January meeting on Thursday Jan 27 informs students and parents about career options and training for two years or less. Brookfield Township officers commended Patrolman Gary Kuty for helping arrest three men, John W. Valentine Gary Rozier and Joseph Reese, linked to the Penn-Ohio Drugs robbery in Majury. Katty spotted a revolver during a traffic stop and the suspects were detained for questioning. The trio possessed purses, a revolver money and receipt slips from the store.
The Hubbard Schools Band sponsors the first meeting of the year on January 11 at 8 p.m. in the HHS Band Room with refreshments served at 7:30 p.m. A note mentions remaining fruit available at Stewart Kyle Funeral Home for half price.
Jonathan Kozol renowned author and educator will give a free public talk at Youngstown State University Kilcawley Center on Tuesday January 11 as part of the 1976 77 Artist Lecture Series. Kozol wrote Death At An Early Age and Life with Free Schools detailing educational inequities and reform.
