Officials say the A and P and Loblaw's food stores in Hubbard will close this Sunday as a gesture of cooperation with the Ministerial Association. Loblaw's explains the Hubbard store will close so employees can attend church.

Hamilton Lodges Objection to Inspection Plans

City building and zoning inspector Harry Hamilton objected to caucus inference that inspections are insufficient. The council discussed shifting to the Trumbull County Building Inspector's office, with County Inspector Barney Sauline outlining benefits. Hamilton noted 123 permits last year across dwellings garages additions commercial work and fences plus 320 inspections including building and heating permits sanitation and complaint checks.

Hubbard PTA Dinner Marks 27th Birthday Celebration

Hubbard PTA celebrated its 27th birthday with a Founders' Day dinner in the Hubbard High School cafeteria. About 70 parents teachers and guests attended with Mrs Sherman Doe of Cleveland Heights speaking on Our PTA Heritage. Included were remarks by Mrs Werner Verch and council president Mrs James Hanrahan, plus school leaders and past presidents. The Rev Harry A Hull offered the invocation and birthday cakes were awarded as prizes. Musical entertainment featured the sophomore girls chorale group directed by Robert Fitzer with Denise Evans at the piano.

George Oros named to Northern Ohio All-Star Band

Hubbard High School senior George Oros, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Oros of 1521 Garden Ave, earned membership in the 86 member Northern Ohio All-Star Band. The group, under Captain Dale L Harpham, performs February 24 at Kent State University with the K S A Symphony Band and the Ohio Band of the Year. Oros plans to attend Youngstown State University after graduation.

Sp-4 Ronald Gehring Awarded Bronze Medal

Sp-4 Ronald Gehring of Masury receives the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in ground operations in Vietnam during December 1966 to December 1967 and the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross for actions August 29 and 30 in the Tuy Hoa Valley. The Hubbard High School graduate returned from a one year Vietnam tour in December and is stationed at Fort Benning for platoon and special forces training.

The Coalburg Lodge 112 of Knights of Pythias schedules a Founders Day Dinner at Schuster's Steak House Ma sury this Wednesday Feb 21 with a 6 15 cocktail hour and 7 PM dinner featuring a guest speaker. City Council Advances Planning Study and Zoning Change

The council authorized a contract with a planning engineer for a comprehensive city planning study funded up to 12000 dollars and sent a zone change request for Myron Street parcels from Residential A to Commercial B. LaCivita Named To Military Academy Appointment

David LaCivita of Hubbard was appointed to the United States Military Academy by Congressman Kirwan. A Ursuline High School senior and Hubbard product, the 6 1 215 tackle stars for the Irish and attracted offers from Ivy League schools and CASE, Oberlin, Heidelberg, and Pittsburgh. He aims to become a mechanical engineer while pursuing Army tests and football. He is one of four LaCivita brothers with ties to Hubbard and Ursuline.

Snyder Helps In Vietnam New Year Celebration

Lithographer Second Class Raymond Snyder, son of Mr and Mrs Peter Snyder of 112 E Park, aided in building booths for a three day carnival in DaNang Vietnam part of the Vietnamese New Year celebration. The event drew thousands of locals and featured clown entertainment and games. Snyder, married to Jean Winner, is on leave from a tour that ends later this year.
