Mayor and Conrail agree on fixes for North Main crossing
Hubbard Mayor Arthur Magee met with Conrail officials Gary Speigel Robert Dean and Matt Weidner to address long standing safety and traffic delays at North Main Street crossing. They plan rubberized crossing surface installation starting April 16 costing 70000 split by city Conrail and federal government and motion detectors costing 15000 to 20000 to reduce down time. If approved by council the city would fund and Conrail may perform the work within six months.

Hubbard High School hosts the second annual Right to Read Week from February 12 with a daily 23 minute reading period. Students bring magazines, teachers supply books, and an evening book distribution at Eastwood Mall runs 5:20 to 8:30 p.m. to raise community reading awareness.

Township lighting contract nears expiry in red district
Hubbard Township trustees heard Ohio Edison representative say the West Hubbard No 1 lighting district contract expires next month after 10 years. The district is no longer self supporting, with assessments set to rise from 3.80 to 5.06 per lamp. Bid advertisements must run 30 days, with bids due by the March 20 trustees meeting.

Township residents urged to post numbers for mail
Hubbard Township trustees urged residents to display house numbers clearly after noting many households have not done so. The letter warned that without visible numbers mail delivery will cease and offered the office number 534-1411 for help locating numbers. Postmaster Bunn will depart soon.

Rotary gifts cuff to West Park Manor in Hubbard
The Hubbard Rotary Club donated a blood pressure cuff to West Park Manor to aid emergencies. Nurses Mae McKeown and Velma McDermott, residents, will coordinate care and conduct monthly screenings with doctor approval, as part of a free community service program led by resident association members.
