A car crashed into a city pole on West Liberty Street early Friday, severing service to about 1,900 telephones. Driver Francis Worner, 35, of Liberty Avenue Hubbard, was taken to North Side Hospital with cuts and a head injury. condition listed serious Tuesday. Repairs began at 3 p.m. and service was restored by afternoon. attorney Richard Scullin reported his house shook from the impact near 235 W. Liberty Street.

In Warren and Trumbull County 561 candidates filed for precinct committeemen with 334 Democrats and 227 Republicans. Democratic Hubbard precinct saw 21 filing for 12 posts while four GOP posts in 1B 2A 3B 3C were uncontested. Voters set May 8 for committee post selection and later that month party chairmen are chosen.

Police Patrolman Goes Beyond Enforcement of Laws
Hubbard patrolman Pat Camuso answered a radio call about a man near Route 304. He found Albert Guerrue in a heart attack and rendered first aid with oxygen from a fire department wagon, helping save Guerrue's life before ambulance crew arrived. Albert Yanik 44 of Arthur Street Masury sustained fractured ribs and a possible ruptured spleen after his car struck a culvert mound on Route 62 near the Pennsylvania line early Sunday. He was taken to Sharon General Hospital in fair condition. State highway patrol said he lost control on a curve while traveling southwest on Route 62.

County receives $10.97 million share of state funds
Ohio state records show Trumbull County received 10,972,563 from the fiscal year total of 1.6 billion. The county shared 3,647,529 with other districts across auto registration gasoline excise and other taxes while receiving aid for the aged and other programs. The school foundation program got 4,845,673 plus 68,510 for buses. Federal support included 101,293 for lunch and 121,624 for milk programs.
