City council fails to override veto on lawsuit funds

Hubbard city councilmen last week could not override Mayor Colletta's veto that would have backed the law director's role in a taxpayer lawsuit. If the suit succeeds, the city may not recover $9,000 paid to N and J Construction for the Saul Drive sewer work.

Roosevelt School Parents Association Fundraiser Success

The Roosevelt School Parents Association raised 16000 items generating 6500 dollars. Proceeds funded window shades on the east side, four VCRs, four color TVs and stands for each floor, and a Trumbull County Video Co-Op membership for educational tapes. Blank VCR tapes were bought for taping. Additional donations supported a snow blower and playground materials.

Garono eyes county post in Trumbull bid

Hubbard councilman at large William Garono declares his plan to run for Trumbull County Commissioner. The 46 year old Democrat cites eight years in local government and a desire to serve all residents, saying he aims to use his Hubbard experience to address county needs and promote unity.

Colletta Named to 911 Planning Committee in Trumbull County

Hubbard mayor William Colletta joins four other Trumbull County elected officials on the 911 planning committee to push countywide emergency dialing. Members include Arthur Magee Daniel Sferra John Shaffer and Adrian Hovanic. A sixth member will be the county Disaster Service Agency director with Feb 11 application deadline for the vacant position left by Lisa Olsen.

Hubbard Township Trustees Approve Police Pact and Talks

Trustees approved a new three year police and dispatch pact retroactive to January 1 with annual raises of five four and three percent and an initial 41 cent hourly increase from 8.28. The agreement adds an 80 percent drug prescription card and includes a wage reopener. Final signatures await formal approval while road crew bargaining continues. A junkyard clean up order was issued with 30 days to comply or face prosecution. Next meeting February 18 at 7 p.m.

Litter-cleanup week set for April in Ohio communities

Warren Ohio April 19 to 26 marks Clean Up Ohio Week announced by the Trumbull County Office of Litter Prevention. ODNR Office of Litter Prevention and Recycling sponsors the event to encourage litter prevention and recycling. Mary Wiard OSPR chief says the week boosts community pride and state beauty with volunteers, businesses providing support. The program serves 87 Ohio communities, funded $6.5 million in 1986 for education enforcement containment and recycling. Optimists sponsor spaghetti dinner

Hubbard The Optimist Club hosts its third annual spaghetti dinner on Sunday February 16 at Reed Middle School from 11 30 a m to 5 30 p m Prices are 3 25 for adults and 2 for children under 12 Dinners include spaghetti salad rolls beverage and coffee Carryouts available Bring your own containers Proceeds support youth activities in the community A transportation service is offered for senior citizens call 534 1129 for dispatch during February 16 only
