State Seeks Cause of Home Fire
Investigators from the state fire marshal’s office examine the ruins of a vacant 75 year old house at 867 N Main Street after a blaze that began about 4 40 am last Saturday. Hubbard Fire Chief B A Wills reported no cause yet and noted attic flames as crews fought the two hour fire. Damage was several thousand dollars. The owner listed is Mrs Mary Ciprano 862 N Main, with Ted Donahue’s family having moved away a week earlier.

March of Dimes Drive Raises $938.80 in local campaign
Local leaders Mrs. Betty Lou Hanrahan and Joseph J. Baldine reported the March of Dimes drive collected 938 dollars and 80 cents this week. Volunteers contributed 902.73 from 105 workers for the Mothers March plus 34.07 from city canisters, boosting the 1961 total to 1,259.73 with school donations included.

School Group Gets First Dividend
The Hubbard School Employees Credit Union declared a 4 percent dividend on share accounts at its annual meeting in the high school cafeteria on Tuesday January 30. The union, organized March 1958 to assist employees, charges 1 percent on unpaid loan balances and funds its treasury through reductions and personal deposits. Board members for three-year terms include Mary Cooks ey, Dean Burrows, and Woodrow Wilson. Norbert Smolen joins the audit committee and William Tucciarone the credit committee.
