Police Probe Two Daylight Tire Thefts in Hubbard

Hubbard city police investigate two daylight thefts from parked vehicles. Four 16 inch truck tires were taken from trucks in a fenced lot behind Stiver's Chevy Oldson on Liberty Street around 11:45 a.m. A second report state four sport hubcaps were stolen from a car on Grandview near Scott Street between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Both cases are under investigation.

City Hall Voter Registration Forms Available

Voter registration and change of address forms are available at the Mayor's office in City Hall daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mayor William Colletta's staff will collect information for Warren registrations regularly. Residents may visit during business hours to complete forms with an April 7 deadline set, 30 days before the upcoming May election.

Rev Burns to resign as Hubbard Nazarene pastor

Reverend Michael T. Burns will resign after seven years as pastor of the Hubbard Church of the Nazarene. He leads his final service February 16 and will relocate to Hemet California with his wife and two children. He was ordained in the Akron District and chaired the Board of Christian Life for four years. His pastorate saw a new sanctuary and the setup of emergency housing and food shelter for tornado victims. An open house and farewell reception will be held.

School board blocks raises and rehiring reshapes Reed and high school

The Hubbard school board, facing financial strain, will not grant pay raises for administrators for at least a year. It rehired Carl Morell Matthew Chojnacki Richard Buchenkc Gail Patrick and John Carson and plans to replace Reed assistant principal with Buchenkc when his contract ends. Geno Buonamici remains Reed Middle School principal after a prior board fired him without explanation. The new majority cites stability for students in grades five through eight and notes administrators will be leaving at both Reed and the high school.

Hubbard City Tax Forms Mailed for 1985 and 1986

Mary E. Lateran, Income Tax Clerk, says Hubbard forms for the 1985 City Income Tax Return and 1986 Estimated Tax Declaration have been mailed. Filing is required for all residents with income not subject to withholding, and the deadline is April 15. New residents not on the mailing list may call or pick up forms at the tax office.

Hubbard city utilities veteran retires after 32 years

Robert Randall ends a 32 year tenure with Hubbard city utilities after last Friday leaving the utility department. He helped install the Moore Street to Roosevelt Drive loop substation, led a remote water meter program and oversaw a major well project. Randall plans woodworking, more time with eight grandchildren, and hopes for a stable water source and major sewer work in Hubbard.
