Kent State U. appoints Steve Sivulich to conduct programs head

Kent State University Board of Trustees promotes Stephen Sivulich son of Mrs. Mary Sivulich of Brookfield to Director of the Office of Student Conduct Programs. A Brookfield High School and Mount Union College alumnus, he previously served as assistant director since July 1969 and plans doctoral study in Student Personnel in Higher Education. His wife Alice, former assistant to the Dean of Women at Pittsburgh, serves as coordinator of Greek Affairs on the KSU staff.

City employees to gain greater benefits in 1971 plan

Hubbard council approved a supplemental contract for Local Union 1256 with a six percent wage increase for members effective Jan 1 1970 and added enhanced benefits including meal tickets sick leave, shift differentials, overtime pay, and a new class III title in water and sewer departments as part of completing the 1970-71 labor agreement. The meeting also approved a two year city income tax renewal and discussed financing on paving and street maintenance.

Jaycees host 150 children at annual Christmas party

Hubbard reports more than 150 youngsters attended the noon luncheon event with Santa’s visit and Nickson the magician. Jaycees and Jaycettes donated food and gifts. President Richard Glassnapp praised the organization for bringing joy to children and named partner groups.

Wean United Secures Bank Credit Amendment

Wean United Inc president R J Wean Jr announced banks agreed to reduce next two maturities from 4.5 million to 1.5 million each. Principal payments due December 31, 1970 and June 30, 1971 are cut to 1.5 million, with the reduction added to December 31, 1974, the final maturity. The move aims to ease the firm’s current deficit and weak industry commitments this year.

City considers 3500 study to locate new water source

Hubbard safety director T. J. Wilson told the City council that the water supply is declining and urged approval of a 3500 project to locate a new source. Moody Associates of Meadville Pa conducted a geological survey showing the aquifer feeding five of six wells dropping about one foot yearly for 16 years. The plan calls for drilling locations and would authorize a Moody contract for 3500, with legislation requested at the next meeting.
