Santa arrives by helicopter at Hubbard High Football Stadium at 2 p.m. and is greeted by Hubbard cheerleaders. He visits the square for most of the day near the community tree. A tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. will be lit by Mayor Joseph J. Baldine with carols by area girl scouts. Decorations were put in downtown Hubbard by city light crews. The event is coordinated by Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce with Gene Alexander directing the Christmas program.

Hubbard boy dies in accidental shooting by brother
A ten year old Hubbard Township boy died from a shotgun chest wound inflicted accidentally by his 11 year old brother John West of 2332 Bon Air Drive Hubbard. Deputy coroner Dr. Philip Gih er ruled the death accidental. The incident occurred in the basement with the 20 gauge shotgun involved. The body was taken to Kelly Funeral Home in Hubbard. Parents are Mr and Mrs Fred West.
