City council plans August sessions while city salons stay active. Four councilmen pressed for a special work session on utility billing amid complaints of higher August charges. City service director Bolchalk doubts a rate hike and will review bills with the computer firm. Public hearings on a Community Development Block Grant for water expansion were announced with a second session set for August 22.
Hubbard High School principal Matthew Chojnacki released the homeroom schedule for all grade levels. Hubbard township man Lee Taylor 31 of Rachelson Ave faced a preliminary hearing for breaking and entering after a Rite Aid Pharmacy break-in on August 3. Police stopped him fleeing on a 10 speed bicycle on Oak Knoll Drive about 700 yards from the store. He remains on bond after arraignment in Girard District Court set for August 15.
Hubbard Board of Education seeks crossing guard applicants for 1984 85 school year. Position at Hall Avenue and West Liberty Street for two hours daily at 3.70 per hour. Contact Carl Morell Hubbard Schools 150 Hall Avenue or call 534-3967 for application and information.
Seven Hubbard firms will receive plaques at the Chamber of Commerce breakfast for expanding, remodeling, or locating new operations. Recipients include Hubbard Lumber Inc, Jugenheimer Industrial Supplies, Patton's Sparkle Market, Pizza Works, Revco Pharmacy, Tringhese Motors, and Walnut Place. Lyle Williams, Rep 19th District, headlines the event on September 17 at Roma Manor.
Bishop Malone announces nine priest appointments including Reverend Kenneth Strader named associate pastor of St. Patrick Church Youngstown. Reverend Anthony Pastucci moves to St. Paul Parish Salem August 10. Also assigned are Nuzzi Frient Seifert Gaeta Spisak and Polando with varied parish roles and leadership at Cardinal Mooney High School. Strader is Warren born and 1984 ordination.
