Mayor William Colletta warns Hubbard faces a possible water emergency as wells fail to meet growing demand. He urges residents to conserve, avoid hoses for lawns, skip car washes and pool fills, and use sprinklers when needed. City negotiators still seek a tap-in to the Youngstown water system with no settlement reached.
The Hubbard City Council announced a $250 000 street program to renew four wards with milling and paving. Ward equity is planned through a priority rating while costs come from Street Fund and related sources. A separate West Park sewer and curb project totals 85 000 with 37 400 Block Grant funds. N and J Construction won the contract for the Rebecca to Center Street section.
Mayor William Colletta proclaimed a weeklong Social Security Week August 11 to 17 in Hubbard. He cited Social Security benefits for 94 percent of 65 year olds, 95 percent of eligible children and survivors, and four of five workers insured, noting 37 000 in Trumbull County. Colletta praised the program as a cornerstone of American life and urged Hubbard residents to support its continued value.
Hubbard Township trustees approved a 1.75 mill police levy for the November ballot to offset tax cuts hitting the department. The move aims to cover payroll by saving overtime and scaling hours after layoffs, with projected revenue about 120000 after fees and potential savings for 1985.

McDonald’s enters out-of-court deal with Truck World Inc. to tie into utilities on 7010 Truck World Blvd while sewer lines run along State Route 7 and U.S. Route 62. McDonald’s paid $30,000. case dismissed by Judge Robert A. Nader after a temporary restraining order.
