Local police urge cyclists to register bikes with the department to aid theft recovery and provide safety pamphlets detailing laws. Riders must use lights after dark, ride single file in most lanes, and avoid riding on freeways. Reflective gear, brakes checked, and helmets recommended. Ohio guides available upon request.
Hubbard Township trustees form a three member task force led by Eli Moga to enforce new Ohio law allowing local boards to force owners to remove junk vehicles abandoned structures and garbage or face court action. The group includes Ed Mann and Nick Nicolaou with McLain as zoning inspector aiming to clean eyesores and protect property values across Trumbull County.
Hubbard City Council will meet April 20 at 7 30 p m in City Hall Chambers. Trustees converge April 21 for the second session. Board of Education meets April 28. Optimist Club of Hubbard hosts a Bicycle Rodeo at 10 a.m. on Saturday April 25 at Roosevelt Elementary School. The event aligns with Bike Safety Week and features a safe riding contest in five skills areas. Police and club members will offer free bicycle safety inspections from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plaques will honor top riders across four age groups.
City Council narrowly approved the 1987 appropriations after a March 30 special session. The resolution funds the general, light, water, sewer and street departments with totals including 900 150 in general and 2 806 500 in the light fund. Councilman Campana urged for clearer explanations on the sewer fund figures and the $90 000 employee line item. Mayor Colletta and Service Director Glad were absent from the session.
Mary E. Lateran, Hubbard City income tax clerk, reminds all residents and non residents that 1986 income tax returns and 1987 estimated tax forms are due by April 15 1987. Ordinance requires tax payments by those who work outside the city and those who do not pay taxes through payroll deduction. Forms available at the income tax office 33 W Liberty Street.
Superintendent Clyde Metz announced three guided tours of the district’s school buildings for the community from April 13 to April 15 starting at 9 30 a m. Residents may contact the Board of Education office at 534 1921 to choose buildings and dates with no limit on the number of tours.
