Howland Township to dedicate 100-year time capsule Sunday
A titanium time capsule designed to be opened in 100 years will be buried Sunday at 2 p.m. at Township Hall. The Howland Bicentennial Committee, led by Warner Taiclet and Wilma Raach, arranges the ceremony with soloist Bonnie MacLaren and Rev. Carl Light delivering the dedication. The capsule holds a township flag, a Bicentennial plate, organizational information, and daily life artifacts, with a granite marker funded by Warren Marble Company.

Howland Hosts Bus Stop Welcomes 41 AFS Students
Howland High School hosted twenty six host families over a weekend as 41 American Field Service students from 26 countries arrived by bus for a four day stay. The event organized by Howland AFL featured a Kenley Players production, a Lordstown GM Plant tour, and Trumbull Art Guild exhibition visits. Chaperone Lori Denton accompanied the group.

Howland Graduate Capecci Places Second National Humor Speech
Jon Capecci, a 1977 Howland High School graduate, earned second nationally in humorous speech at the National Forensic League Finals in Seattle. He performed The Venus Figurine, a Sherlock Holmes spoof, competing with four state champions and had qualified by winning the Ohio State Championship at Ohio University.
