Willlie Davenport at Howland High Class of 62 Reunion

Olympic champion Willie Davenport attended Howland High School Class of 1962s 15th reunion on June 4 at Farmer Jims. The event drew 141 graduates and several out of town guests from Canada, Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Howland Schools to Run Fifth Summer Recreation Program

Howland Local Schools schedule a five week summer recreation program from late June to August directed by North Road Elementary Principal Larry Graber with 23 staff from high school and college. Centers will be run by Shimko Bill Boyd Warner Tabler Mike Smith George Stull and Albert Shorty Lambing Janet Collins Sandra Wickham and Steve Yovich under Howland Township funds. The next reunion is planned for the second weekend in June 1982 under Eti leadership of William Boyd and Mike mith.

Bolindale Homecoming Gala Continues Through Saturday Parade

The Bolindale and DeForest annual Homecoming Festival runs from Tuesday at Ridge Rd picnic grounds to Saturday June 18, capped by a Homecoming Parade. Queen Karen Kellner leads a court of attendants and finalists. rides, booths, and foods are planned. proceeds fund Howland Township Fire Department firefighting equipment.

Howland Police Department and Auxiliary with Lakes to River Girl Scouts host a bike rodeo at Mines School on Saturday July 2 at 10. The event features registration bike safety cartoon safety check and obstacle course. Prizes and trophies go to winners in age groups. Parents invited.

Blind People Find Joy at City Picnic in Wick Park

At Wick Park the Youngstown Society for the Blind and Disabled hosted a June picnic. Doug Matteis praised the ROTC from Youngstown State University for bringing him and other attendees to the event, highlighting accessible entertainment and support for the handicapped.
