Commissioners reject Golden Triangle annexation by Warren

Warren Ohio news that the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners voted 2 to 1 to deny the Golden Triangle annexation to Warren. The decision ends two years of negotiations. a companion pact with Howland remains under consideration by City Council and Howland trustees amid expected litigation.

Compromise plan for Golden Triangle up for approval

County officials consider a compromise agreement between Howland Township and Warren City after earlier denial of the annexation. The pact shifts funding shares for eight years, adds federal revenue sharing, and allows Warren to extend water and sewer service within defined areas. A joint service commission would oversee fire police street and other services and shared zoning and purchasing.

Council balks at Warren Howland compromise

At last night’s City Council meeting, councilmen refused to consider the proposed Warren Howland pact after about a half hour caucus. Councilman Lee Miller said the group would not move until enough members agree.

Warren annexes several parcels to Warren city

County officials denied a large Golden Triangle annexation but approved multiple parcels. About 25 acres from Howland Township and 6 acres from Warren Township were added to Warren City, including 15.122 acres on state route 422 and 9.47 acres from Howland Apartments. Hearing dates set for February 10 and February 24.

Fire Department Reports 1975 Losses and Call Totals

Howland Volunteer Fire Department reports 1975 fire loss around 65 thousand dollars on total 538 calls. Dwellings suffered 25 605 building loss and 6 755 contents loss. mercantile losses 14 200 building and 5 600 contents. Other categories include automotive barns garages mobile homes and various calls with smaller losses.

Immunization Clinics Set in Howland Elementary Schools

Trumbull County Health Department offers free immunization clinics at six Howland elementary schools. Registration runs January 19–23 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Bring birth certificates and immunization records. Children aged five by September 30, 1976 and on or before January 1, 1977 may enroll in kindergarten if they pass an education test. similar rules apply for first grade entrants. Clinic dates include Mines School January 26, Howland Glen February 23 and April 26, Howland Springs March 22, North Road School January 26, Bolindale February 23 and April 26, Morgandale March 22. Early entrance testing requests must be letters to the school by May 28.
